KEEPERS OF THE FLAME: Mike McHale
By jennie | November 4, 2009
Well we’re back after a little hiatus…! Website being updated and revamped. You’ve been asking, so we will shortly upload all Series 1 of the Kitchen Sessions for your delectation. For now have a listen to this interview with Mike McHale. It will be broadcast this week on “The Wednesday Session” on Clare FM, as part of the “Keepers of the Flame” series of interviews with Irish immigrant musicians in the US. Mike left Roscommon for USA in the 1960s. A lovely old style whistle and flute player, I met him at Willie Kelly’s Kitchen Session in New Jersey, and afterwards we talked about what it was like playing traditional music in decades past in USA.
