Robbie McMahon singing "The Feakle Hurlers" at a kitchen session in Feakle
Here’s a little taste from a special documentary broadcast on the Wednesday Session on Clare FM on 1 April. A snippet from “Songmakers”, a documentary produced by Paula a few years ago on the subject of comic songwriters. You’ll hear the hilarious compositions of Robbie McMahon (pictured), Brian O’ Rourke, Tim Lyons, Seán Mone, Michael Marrinan, and of course this year’s TG4 Composer of the Year - Con Fada Ó Drisceoil. Con receives his richly - deserved award this Saturday night 4th April at the Wexford Opera House. I like to boast that we have in this documentary the most delightful live recording to date of “Bob’s Song” a song on the neutering of the Ó Drisceoil family dog. Don’t miss it!
It’s not strictly Kitchen Session material - but it’s all in the same spirit - recorded before a lively audience in Kelly’s of Carmody Street, here in Ennis. Guaranteed to bring a smile to your face! You can listen back for a week or download on www.clarefm.ie.
